ROLE PLAYING YOUR VISION TOWARDS ACHIEVING YOUR DREAMS

Too many people dream of the life they want but are unable to put in place any plan of action to get that life. We all dream. Dreaming is the easy part, but how to change a dream into a vision - a vision that will propel us into that life?
Many successful people can role-play the life they want. They may not be where they want to be, but that doesn't stop them from acting out the life they want; the life they know, one day, they'll have. The ability to do this is important. Many of us are rational thinkers and know that we could make every aspect of our 'dreams' come true, but we take absolutely no action towards making any of them likely to happen.

We can all learn a lesson from watching children. All children learn about themselves and the life they're going to live through play. They simply play at being the person they want to be; a doctor, a teacher, a scientist, a mother. They use props around them to act out the life they going to have. They will show everyone around them, the husband they are going to marry, the car they're going to have, and the new worlds they'll be the first to discover. I'm not suggesting that we all revert to playing like children, however
role playing and vocalizing our future will helps us.

But why does acting out our dreams make an impact on our self-discovery mission?

Firstly, it helps us to feel some of the pleasure and enjoyment that the realization of our dreams will bring. It has been shown, time and again, that we are much more likely to achieve goals that trigger strong emotions in us.

Secondly, role-playing implants unforgettably inspiring, vivid images in our subconscious. Even, imaginary seeing is believing.

By expressing your vision, you turn your daydreaming of mixed-up, meandering, and unconnected images into lifelike, linked, and solid visions. Your visions will be lifelike, linked, and consistent; more like a believable documentary than a whimsical fairytale. The more you believe in your goals the more likely they are achieved. You can use the picture power of your imagination to fix a vivid, detailed, inspiring image of your desired future in your subconscious mind.

We can also use our visionary thinking from the past to help motivate us for the future. We can use the wisdom we have gained from our life and re-apply and re-kindle the dreams of our childhood and youth. Don't be afraid to recollect those grandiose dreams. By honestly re-experiencing the dreams and aspirations of our earlier life, we can confirm that those dreams of yesteryears are, at heart, the dreams we carry in our heart today. But now we can use our experience to find an acceptable compromise.
WHAT IS VISION?

We have heard of vision severally, so I am summing up vision in just one sentence. “Vision is the capacity to see further than what your eyes can see”. Vision is only revealed by God to you and He talks of nothing other than His pre-ordained purpose and counsel for you.

What you are on earth to do is what vision is all about. You are not here by accident; you are here to fulfil vision and purpose. You are not meant to be roaming the street or to wake up in the morning not knowing what to do. If your vision is revealed unto you and you have the knowledge of your purpose, you will not wake up and be gravitating all over the town. But your mind will be stationed on your vision, unto how to run your vision on daily basis under his guidance.

Vision could be described as a “mental picture …a concept in the imagination”.  Here, we are talking of what you can not see, the power of the invisible. To imbibe this power, you need to create a mental picture of your life goal, and your desire in life. There is this saying, “If you don’t know the road that leads to your destination, someone who knows his own part in destiny will take you along”. That is why you see many people living the whole of their lives helping someone else achieve greater success in destiny. What is the essence of working for a particular employer for 20 years when you can create your own part and make people to walk the road leading to your destination?

FACTORS THAT DETERMINE YOUR VISION

  1. Your likes & dislikes: what kind of activities –both at work and at play- do you enjoy? What kind of activities do you avoid? Make a list of both types of activities; now take a close look at your vision in terms of your likes and dislikes. Does your vision have more of your likes or dislikes?
  2. Your passion: Reflect on the times and situations you feel most passionate, most energetic, and most engaged, and see if you can develop a common profile of these situations. Develop a list of your passions. Here is what Bill-Gate says about success; “people with believable and achievable goals built around their passions succeed because they know where they are going and they truly want it! It is really as simple as that”.
  3. Your strength and weakness: step back and look at yourself from an employer’s perspective. What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? Think in terms of work experience, education/training, skill development, talents and abilities, technical knowledge, and personal characteristics.
  4. Your definition of success: spend some time thinking about how you define success. What is success to you? Wealth, power, control …..
  5. Your personality: are you an extrovert or an introvert? Do you like thinking or doing? Do you like routine or change? Do you like sitting behind the desk or being on the move? Take the time to analyze yourself first, then take one or more self-assessment tests.
  6. Your current situation: before you can even do any planning, clearly and realistically identify your starting point. Create a link between where you stand now and where you are going.
Once you have identified these exercises, the next step is to develop a clear picture of yourself and your aspirations over the next few years. Once you have developed the mental picture, the final step is setting your goal towards creating your envisioned life.

For your greater achievement,
